Great Weekend

Ah, just finished a nice, long, holiday weekend. Paid holidays are pretty scarce, however, Presidents' Day IS one of them. Some great friends DROVE up from California on Thursday..so very nice to have them visiting. Road trips can be so much fun, though flying does seem like an inexpensive and quick way to travel these days. But if you have the time, why not road trip??

We were reminded all weekend just how great a group of friends we had while living in Hawaii...and now we have all gone our separate ways. If we get together with a couple of them a few times a year we call ourselves lucky. I suppose it is all perspective...we all knew living in the islands was temporary and we certainly tried to make the best of it while we were there, meeting fabulous people along the way. And now, we have all these wonderful friends living everywhere across the country. Thank goodness for friends, where ever they may be.

Train

Took the train down to Portland on Friday...had not ridden a train since my first year in college. Pretty fun really, once I got used to the rocking motion. And so much better than driving in Friday rush hour traffic out of Seattle just to get down to Portland by 10pm...makes for such a long day. The beer with dinner was wonderful too :)

Sunset

Sunsets are looking very nice lately. The small dark object in the middle is the ferry boat...just missed it, lol.

On my way to work...

I wake up on the ferry ride to work and realize it has been diverted to another city rather than Seattle. I get very anxious...I need to get to work, clients to talk to, reports to write, things to do. I look outside of the car and see other passengers pacing round, looking anxious as well, talking to the ferry crew, trying to figure out how to get the boat back on course. Just as I am about to get out of the car to get involved with fixing the situation...I wake up. I am still in my car, on the ferry, almost to Seattle, the sun about to rise, just like any other day. All I want to do is close my eyes, lay my head back on the pillow, and sleep for a few more hours. Bet the guy in the car behind me would get irritated, maybe even honk at me. One of the ferry crewmen would come up and bang on my window to wake me up. All the other people in the remaining cars would be staring, shaking their fists or maybe even chuckling under their breath. Guess I have to wake up, go to work, start another day.
