Tree House Progress

The guys have made great progress on the tree house...the floor deck is on and the walls are being fabricated.

Trap Door

The trap door is almost ready to be installed. A rope ladder will lead to the trap door, located on the underside of the floor :)

Construction Begins

The construction season has been very highly anticipated in our house this year. My husband and his son have been designing this tree house since last summer and construction has finally began (how awesome is this for an 11-year old boy?!?).

Bird's eye view

The tree house is fairly high in elevation on the hill behind our house (this picture taken from my height...tree house very much above my head). The tree house is in clear view from the kitchen window and the back patio area...though not too close to overhear the top secret clubhouse meetings :)

Staging Area

A veiw of the construction staging area (a.k.a. our back patio). The guys have been collecting bargins over the past year or so in preparation for building the tree house. It is amazing how much you can get for so little if you keep your eyes open for the bargins.

Kenny Chesney

Kenny Chesney put on a great show this past Saturday at the Tacoma. Although the sound system left a lot to be desired, his stage presence and vocals really had the crowd going wild. Kenny and his opening act Gretchen Wilson showed some range in their abilities by playing covers by Heart (with one of the lead singers of Heart as a guest singer), Led Zepplin, and Kid Rock. Gretchen Wilson sang this song called California Girls...not your everyday Beach Boys variety...her version was totally funny (coming out on her next album??). And Kenny...boy what can you say?!? He sang songs from his first album and up through is most recent and looked great in his cowboy hat all the while. Matt and I had a great time people watching and were very amused with the soap opera playing out in the bleacher seats directly in front of us. Takes all kinds, lol.

Sister Weekend

My sister came into town this weekend, Portland actually, to get together with the northwest friends and family to celebrate her graduation from dental school. She managed to bring quite a few people to the same place, at the same time, many who we have not seen for a while. The McMenamins Kennedy School provided a great location, food, and beer for the event. Too bad weekends are just two days long...seemed like she just arrived when she had to turn around and go back to the airport for her return flight, lol.

Birthday Dinner

Another day to check off the calendar...number 28. Had a great birthday dinner last night with a small group of people at the Silver City Brewery...good food, good company, great beer :)

After dinner, my husband and our good friend Matt gave me a fishing pole, reel, and a tackle box (already including some key items!!). It is all sooooooo cool!!!!! I was already totally excited for salmon fishing season to get here, now I can hardly hold still!!! Bring on the fish!
